Hey.

So car threw an engine light yesterday. Took it to get the code pulled, and it said no codes.....

I know the smog computer cannot connect to the Ipd tunes, but can obdii scanners?

Car is running fine, I don't notice anything bad but I would like to make sure it's all ok,

Thanks

Pin 14 - CAN Low (J-2284)

Pin 15 - ISO 9141-2 L Line and ISO/DIS 14230-4

I had this issue on my 850 and it ended up being a bad connector. Being the car had OBDI and OBDII, I just used the box under the hood and called it a day. Also, one thing to consider, the CEL could be for a computer that the OTC Scanner cannot read.

I had this happen randomly after doing some troubleshooting with regard to cap/rotor work. I had only been driving the car around town, after i took it on a highway cruise, CEL shut off and has not re-appeared (no the bulb didn't burn out).

We had been trying/replacing so many different parts I just figured it was a fluke from all the swapping around.

And, Gabe 94/5's have the port but OBD2 standard was not enforced until 96, volvo was simply ahead of the game B)

Oh, I know, I have a 94 and have used OBD2 many times, I just kinda figured he would have known that too. ;)

I love when I ask Autozone to get my codes pulled and they almost won't because they're too busy trying to convince me my car doesn't have OBD2.

Don't' know how to respond to that. But on the Stock Ecu there is definitely no Obd2. It has the port but no access.

MAYBE a 96+ ecu/tune ina 94+ rectifies this???

That's why 94-95 have the Led boxes under the hood.

Likewise the 850 manual tunes don't have Obd2 as Europe was slightly behind USA> standards on Obd2 So 94-95 easy . 96-97 sad.gif smog issues for lack of Obd2 connectivity

I have tried to use my Obd2 on several 94's with no prevail. unsure.gifunsure.gifunsure.gif

SOME late model 95's have Obd2

I didn't mean for it to sound mean or anything, I just thought you would have known that, since they do have OBDII.

And that's not correct. My 94 850 had a stock ECU and I have pulled codes off of it many times using the OBDII port. It has access to the stored codes on the ECU.The only reason I don't use it anymore is because I had a manual tune and obviously those have no OBDII.

My Dad also had pulled codes off of this car LONG before I was even able to drive.

I've had the same experience with my car. I remember pulling codes off my stock ECU and with my IPD ECU. Maybe the port works on turbo cars and not the NA cars?
