Glovebox Jammed

I foolishly tried to stuff too much crap into my glovebox, and when I went to open it again, it wouldn't budge. I tried to use the key, even though I never locked it, but to no avail.

I drive a 1993 Volvo 850 GLT.

Is there an alternate route I can take?

location and signature! (i'm such a broken record about that.. :D)

does the glove box handle move at all? or when you pull it out all the way, the latch won't unlatch?

yea, I've been trying that...but I'm really scared of the airbag, being that it's so close to where I'm working. I really don't feel like taking the blunt of an airbag explosion to the face. :excl:

kevin, shhhhsh for chrissakes.

your latch is broken. two options.

1. drill hole over latch(3/4" hole, dead center horizontal on door, 1-3/4" down from top edge). pop latch. door still inoperable, but will close. cover with gay sticker. most destructive. could buy new door and hardware.

2. get mini-hacksaw. wedge door out as much as possible, saw through latch in center of box. open door remove latch hardware. buy new latch hardware, keep door.

A regular hacksaw blade works too. Tape up the part of the blade for a handle to grip and the dash / door surfaces to protect them for the sides of the hacksaw blade. And be patient.

Just don't have the key in and ignition on if you're worried about the airbag.
