Dflo1121
Our 2000 S70 starts, runs for short time then completely shuts down. I don't suspect fuel pump because it does run for short time, but I may be wrong. Could it possibly be something to do with alternator or electronics side (computer/Chip)? Does anybody have any ideas before I bring it in to a Dealer/Mechanic? Thanks
Chef JPD
How long does it run before it shuts down? My C70 did this occasionally, started and died within 2 seconds. Turned out that it was the antennae ring for the Immobilizer that is around the ignition switch. This part----->Clicky
Dflo1121
Thanks for the response. Is that easy to remove and replace? Are special tools required. The problem is that I'm currently overseas and I'm trying to help my son out. So I can't look at it to see what is needed. Thanks
Chef JPD
very easy to replace, you just need to remove the steering wheel "clamshell" cover (3 screws on the bottom) This exposes the ignition switch and the ring, just pop it out and plug in the new one. Chef JPD
if this isn't the fix, check the fuel pump relay next. I replaced my FP relay first, no joy, then the immobilizer ring cured the problem.
