Malvasi
Hey guys, I have searched and can't find a solid answer. Can you anyone tell me where the speed sense wire is on the 850's? Is it in the harness like the x70's? This is for my AVIC-D3 I have installed. Thanks!

It plugs in right in front of the strut on each front wheel.
Malvasi
Wow that seems pretty intense for a speed sense wire... There isn't anywhere to tap into it in the cab or engine bay?

The wire goes right into the engine bay, so I don't see what the big deal is...
Malvasi
I guess you're right, any idea how to identify which is the correct wire? I don't feel like guessing which is which.

You've got a 50/50 shot. If it doesn't work the first time, just tap into the other wire instead. Again, not too much work. Or you can wait until someone responds to this thread who knows the correct color wire to tap into.
bergmjs
Isn't the speed sensor on '95- on the trans itself? Mine was.

bergmjs
Did you tap into the speed sensor? Which wire did you use? Well I replaced my auto trans with a manual trans out of a '98. So I had the speed sensor wires that were supposed to go to the speed sensor on the '95 trans and spliced them into the ABS signal off the front driver's side wheel. There were two wires coming off the speed sensor and two wires off the ABS sensor, so I spliced one wire from the speed signal into one ABS wire and the other into the other. I don't think polarity matters on it.

bergmjs
Yes it does. Maybe for his application but it didn't for the speedometer. It's just a pulse wave coming off the sensor, doesn't matter which way you look at it.
Malvasi
I have seen a few threads that were speaking of a tab on the back of the cluster can be used for VSS. Anyone know if this is true for the 850's?
