Brad850
Just installed my Fmic. The only hose I didn't replace with silicone so far is the one connecting to the turbo (its on its way). But anyway I blew the hose off today and I heard a really high pitch noise like the turbo spooled up insanely fast. I pulled over and shut the car off as quick as i could. I opened the hood and a very small amount of smoke was rising out from under the turbo heat shield and it stopped after a minute or two. What are the chances I f'ed up my turbo? Should everything be ok?... or do I just have to wait and see how it runs when I get the new hose.
Oreo931
You're fine. Just install the new hose and you should be good to go.
thewhiteguy1
if you blew an intercooler hose off the car would simply die....not following your noises. turbo is probably not bad.
WayAway
Ive had a long history of blowing my hose off my turbo. Your fine. That sound your hearing is your turbo spooling into the atmosphere for a spit second. Also you might o had oil in our intercooler hoses and it probly dripped on your heat shield when it blew off. My advice is get a 2" tclamp for the turbo and enjoi. Maybe even a new coupler. I went through this for months with this randomly happening after my fmic install. 850-teefemma
Just changed all turbo hoses to silicon ones from fcpgroton (tightass i know). My originals (from -95) where still ok, all sloppy as but one; the T-piece before the inlet manifold that had a 20mm crack! the silicon ones are a pain to install. So tight its not funny… I had to leave the hoses downstream from the turbo for next weekend. Now when all the power is back, I think I blow the spark plugs; cant rev over 3000rpm.
