Travis kept shoving his sandals in my face trying to get me to smell them.

They smelled so bad from that mud! I had to scrub them when I got home!

I was not going to be the only one who had to experience that

Where were you satuday ?

And nice sticker

Indeed I was, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. I think i was in my tent taking a drunk nap when you were around.

BTW-- was it Travis that approached me "Yea, I don't like you." and then later approached me saying, "Sorry, I shouldnt of said that...that was rude"? I dont remember, but I think it sounds like a ginger thing to say

Why dyno at an event like that if everything is so secret? Looks like the hood was up, did nobody look at the car? I guess the only thing everyone is unsure about is what he is using to tune it. Whoop-dee-doo. There's only so many options. Maybe it's some ghetto rigged homemade ostrich setup sprinkled in pixie dust. :P

Nice numbers though. I'd guess 22-24psi.

i looked under the hood, and until i saw the turbo on it it looked like nothing at all...then there was that thing back there. He did a really good job of making it a very unassuming car. The basic question is yes the tune, all i could see was a wire coming from the ecu box but that could be almost anything....time will tell. For now im giving him the benefit of the doubt that hes a cool guy and maybe will do the volvo game a solid with a good product and hes not just some self serving chode.

typical 850 mods except: vms motor, g37 turbo, and his own custom tuning... yeah... awesome!

VMS Motor has been deconstructed several times since I bought it…..had a fair amount of trouble with it when I first installed it. I’m running a GT3076R from ATP. Working with a tuning system that my buddy Larry tried on his S60R.

 really? So there's one that hasn't cracked and is making that kind of power? Luck of the draw or what?

It was not without its flaws.

Goes to show people are either:

A. Ignorant

B. Risk Seekers

or

C. Willing to burn money

Plenty of people play the lottery so why should this surprise me. Or is it a question of whether Terry is feeling lazy that day as to whether the engine build actually performs?

For me I’m going with A and B. I purchased that motor back in late 04ish. At that time there wasn’t as much support for internals and builds that I could find. I was Ignorant because I didn’t know he would have a bad rap and that I would have so much trouble with him and the product. It took forever to get (9 months) and I had another years worth of trouble with the head after I got it causing multiple drivability issues…... If I only knew now what I didn’t know then. That being said Terry is a nice guy and still buys head gaskets from me to this day from time to time, but I think he may have always been running on a shoe string budget. After all the trouble I did end up getting the cost of the motor down to less than 6k IIRC.

I like the rim lip/dish on these...

P1030267.jpg

was thinking of these - look like a cheaper version of the SSR...

or These... never know if they'll clear F&R BBK. ET38 & 45 respectively

He was being secretive about the tune? I't be nice to know more. What is that turbo good for?

Hussein-

ATP says 500hp.

he was... but i asked and he said he would let us know eventually... he was a cool guy. had too many cars!

Thanks man. It was nice meeting you. You car is so hawt. I love the Red R’s.

i wasn't a fan of him... he was treating me like i was some poser kid whos parents bought him a s60r...... and i can't stand when people keep things a "secret"... like it makes him mega cool or something... NAWW.. that just makes him a mega douche bag... i personally was very frustrated when trying to find a good way to tune my t5m.. i ended up spending way too much money on TT..

but its alright.. when you have the money to buy VMS motors, and that many volvos... you clearly have enough money to buy friends.

And that’s fine. I’m sorry you got that impression….I thought our conversation went fairly well when you rolled up with Volvo go-go. (Sorry don’t know her real name) I don’t judge books by their covers; I don’t have any idea anything about you except I’ve seen your user name in several posts and you told me that your old car was totaled. The last part of our conversation that I remember was you saying you would come find me at the camp ground and talk to me about it some more. I’m not trying to keep things secret, we fully intend on telling everyone what we are using…..it’s just not my place…. I didn’t take the risk involved to see if it would work until Larry did, and he has asked me not to say what I’m using until he can finish his car. It’s not without its flaws, but it seems to be working pretty well. I’m sorry you are frustrated about how much money you spent on trying to tune your car, but I’m in the same boat, I didn’t just start yesterday….I been working on my car for 7 years and have spent a lot of money with no results as I think many of us have.

I guess I don’t really understand why you resort to name calling and making assumptions about me and what I think of you. I may have been distracted a bit when you rolled up...who knows. I work hard for a living….. 50+ hours a week and when I want something that I have saved my earned money for then I’m going to buy it…..and I won’t apologize for that. I get the impression from this post that you just want a reason to be a jerk because of something you think I thought about you.

well.. if its a potential product.. i suppose i understand...

but i got none of that.. and he was a demeaning asshole toward me....

Again sorry you got that impression, but I really don’t know how.

Anyone know the boost pressure on that dyno pull?

22-23 is what I was doing on the street. I didnt get to see while it was on the dyno.

I promise as soon as Larry is done and can throw it on the dyno he will say.

ok.... im sorry for being alittle edgy.. i was just frustrated and felt like i was being belittled

but, you honestly came back with the most respectable thing you could have possibly said... and now i feel like a dick for not talking to you more... im sorry.

but really congrats.. you made impressive numbers.. i wish i could have dynoed with the highrollers this year... but accidents happen... im sure ill talk to you soon and im sorry for saying unkind things toward you. not many guys modifyed these cars to the extent we have, and ive been personaly frustrated by the lack of tune-ability

So I was pretty close on the boost.

I bought my pistons/rods from Terry back in 03/04. Being one of his first customers, I was able to get them within 6-8 weeks. I had my motor built locally and like you, had a few problems that have taken a while to resolve. Like you say, there weren't many options at the time and I too was fairly ignorant on what was involved in building a motor. Hindsight is 20/20 for sure. I went standalone because I wanted full control over what the motor was doing and there were very few options. It's been a steep learing curve but i'm fairly happy with how it's running so far considering i've never tuned a car in my life.

Looking forward to hearing more about your setup.

Well said. Very nice to see people conducting themselves in a mature manner.

That being said, your wagon--and whole collection, for that matter--is gorgeous, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to see a dedicated show room thread on anything you're willing to share at this point in the build smile.gif

I will second that for sure.

I'm just pissed that it was sooooo bloody hot that day and I hid under the tent behind BDIMags rolling keg all day. I didn't get over to see it or meet Shaun. Damn nice weather... lol
