Cbv - No Vacuum?

Recommended Posts

Hi

Trying to find a vacuum leak, all hoses replaced, PCV system, elbows etc.

When I try to pull vaccumm from the hose that goes from the inlet manifold to the compressor bypass valve there is no vacuum. It doesn't hold anything either way as I can blow through it. Has it failed?

What are the options? Dealer can't supply the diaghram as the turbo isn't made by Volvo but Mitsubishi. Would a Mitsubishi dealer be able to help?

I am not going down the blow off route as the car is auto.

Thanks

Matt,

As you suspected, the diaphragm should hold both vacuum and pressure. Sounds like it's shot :)...

Actually though, the valve IS available from Volvo, but is VERY expensive (over $150 last I checked). Here is a link to a Genuine Mitsubishi replacement, with the diaphragm being the updated orange rubber:

Other companies have them available (ipd, EST, etc), but this one is cheaper and of better quality. I've personally used it and you won't be disappointed ;).

Hope this helps,

Joe
