850T5M Posted May 25, 2011 Report Share Posted May 25, 2011 Hi everyone, I've been looking at my 850 handles for a while and can't stand the color. I'd like to install some black S70 handles instead but would need to use the key in order to open the door. The trunk is shaved so the only way to open the doors are with the key or the remote. If the remote dies, I cant open the door lol My question is, I know the handles are interchangeable, but can I use the key/lock mechanism from the S70 on my 850? Serge Posted May 25, 2011 Report Share Posted May 25, 2011 Lock mechanism cannot be interchanged, neither can the pins. However, with some trial and error (and Dremeling), you can swap the pins inside of the S70 tumbler to work with your key. I made my key work and turn the S70 tumbler with all the pins in, and just one needing to be ground down a bit. There is a guide somewhere with pics of how it can be done.
