Nope, not really, you are fine with a dino oil IF you do correct OCIs. Dino is perfectly fine as long as you understand that you wont be able to run it for as long as a full syn.

That's normal.

Regular/dino oil must be changed more frequently than fully synth.

Dino oil=up to 5k km(around 3k miles)

Fully synth=up to 10-15k km(7-8k miles). ;)

Im with 5k-6k on dino and 8k-10k on syn.

All depends on your driving habits, Vehicle, oil quality and filter used.

The 3K OCI is extreme service, like granny and grandpa put 3k miles a year style oil changes haha!

Sorry, i just hate with a passion the 3K OCI.. Its like the consumers number one sales trap of all vehicle time! I would love to see an oil anylsis thay states a OCI needed after 3K.

My dad made the point once a while back that saying that cars need 3k OCI's amounts to basically saying that oil technology hasn't changed since 1959 and that cars still run just as dirty now as they did back then. We all know that's patently untrue, which is why it is amazing that there are ANY places that would still recommend that. My wife's car generally gets one about every 8-10k using Amsoil synthetic and an Amsoil or Wix filter, and my car probably a little less mileage (because it was NASTY when I bought the car last summer) using the same oil and a Wix filter. Plenty of other good brands of synthetics out there that could likely run that mileage with no issues as long as the filtration (both air and oil filters) system is in good shape.
