More Aggressive Shift Patterns? Automatic.

Recommended Posts

I have also heard of this mod and would be very interested to see a complete right up on it. Someone had mentioned it here on vs before but didn't go into great detail. I forgot what it was under so could't find it. this mod coupled with what lucky has in store could be epic.

I have the awd auto tranny in my '05 S60 and I always shift my own gears in the "gear-tronic" mode. With IPD's stiff engine and tranny mounts and flushing fluid pretty often keeps the transmission shifting pretty decent. I do have the RICA software which deleted the torque limiter in 1st and 2nd gear and I've noticed quite a bit of difference with those mods installed. Only thing I can think of now is finding a better torque convertor. Or out on a limb - getting better gearing something closer to 3:73's and go full RWD which would be great or switch over to a manual...which is costly.

The TCU programming I'm looking at could come two fold:

1. Proper paddle shifter via the stock TCM. Reprogrammed so "Economy" mode is standard shift and "Sport" mode is paddle shift.

TCU takes up and down switch inputs via some extra unused pins on the TCU, so you'd have to run two wires from the cabin and fashion your own paddle switches.

2. Reprogramming the shift strategy and line pressure rates for "Sport" mode to make it more aggressive. For "Economy" mode, bring the line pressure up sooner to reduce slip and shift sooner to further increase efficiency. Effectively making the mode selector switch do something considerable that you can really feel.

That's what's in my mind for now. I'm busy decoding N/A maps this week and next so TCU stuff won't really begin until later this summer, toward the end of July.

Thanks guys

here it is: http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=108965 my first post is on page 12 i think at the top of the page, the eightfitty stuff starts there, including the info on my car. personally, i'd start at the beginning, but it's a 15 page post.

sorry, just start at the top, they moved my car to the beginning w/ pics and video. kenny (linuxman) and sam (roadracerforlife) can make a tricycle fast so this is the good stuff. as for lucky, will your stuff help with longevity too? if so, you guys might go that route instead but i think i'll do both. you guys will find this easier than you might think, and cheap too. try to beg, borrow, or steal a lift if you arent pulling/replacing the trans.

Lucky Will this software be like an electrical version of a shift kit from say a turbo350 (GM I know) tranny where they switch the valve bodies to allow more pressure build in the tranny for better shifting, will your software work similar to that but all electronical seeing our cars are way more complex than a turbo 350 tranny.

I just shift my trans. Pop her into W mode and go to town. Been driving it this way as long as I have owned the car. (Since 2003)

Just gotta know how to finagle it. Actually for the most part my car revs so quick now the auto trans can't even shift before hitting the rev limiter. (Which is now at 7600...) sooooo I really have two options; shift the auto myself and add the "anticipation of a human mind" or swap to a manual.

-1 doesn't change the fact that I have been doing it for years :-)

Two quick questions:

1) Can the accumulator mod be done on a 2002 S60 2.4T AWD GearTronic?

2) Can Lucky's paddle shift be done in the same car? in conjunction with the accumulator mod?

Thanks a ton for the info, there's not much we can do as far as manual swaps in these newer cars so anyway to make the Look at me, I think I am witty better is welcomed.

I am so excited to hear about this! Its about time someone made trans software for our cars...I can't wait.
