Vehicle Speed Sensor Wire?

If anyone has wired up a GPS with dead reckoning, you probably needed to hook up a VSS line (Vehicle Speed Sensor).

I know the 850 gauge clusters have an output that does 48 pulses/revolution, but that requires pulling the dash pad and running the wire from there. I know there are two wires going from the transmission and ABS units to the gauge cluster. They are Yellow/Brown and Green/Yellow. That is, this is what the wiring diagrams say. I cannot for the life of me find these in the car! I even have a whole set of wires from another car, and there are no Yellow/Brown or Green/Yellow wires running to the gauge cluster.

Anyone know where it is?

This is for a 95 850, btw.

You positive? I know the newer models have that to account for the speed-dependent volume control, but I doubt MY95 cars had it.

dude did you look before you replied?

i needed a speed pulse back in 2004 when i did the stereo in my 94 855t. yes it is there

I looked and didn't find it in my 95 T5-R. I went over each wire in the harness and it was not there... I would love to know which wire you used for that since I need it for my double din navi...

fuck fuck fuck, you guys are right. now i remember what i did. I went to the abs wire in the driver front sensor. yes i am so sorry, my dumb ass forgot about that.

I knew I wasn't crazy :)

Did you take the ABS wire from under the hood and run it up? Or found one under the dash?

On the radio connectors its is on the connector that drives the speakers (except the tweeter). It is either pin 10 or pin 11 (one of the center pins). If your stock radio has the ASC or auto sound control feature, this wire should be present. I do remember my 1995 850 GLT having this connection, because my stock radio SC-811 has the ASC feature.

For instance, if you had a 850 with a outboard amplifier you had the speed sensor wire. This would be going to the radio's speaker connector as a single wire (you would see it as a single wire going to a connector that had like 10 blank connections).

I looked for it on my T5R, and I couldn't find it at all. Is it possible it was on the amp harness and not the factory harness? I will look again when I get the car back apart but I don't think it is there...

Its yellow and something, I think yellow/black

Yellow/brown and and Green/yellow (which is different from Yellow/green, this has to be mostly green with a thin line of yellow).

Problem is, can't find them in the harness! And the only one that is that color, goes to another portion of the car no where near the gauge cluster (which is where the wiring diagrams show it going).
