98 v70 awd. I pulled the system down and have 1.65 lbs in the system. Compressor is cycling but no cold air. I have vst and checked the codes and get a ecc-422 driver temp motor failed adjustment. When I try to adjust the motors it goes for about 30 sec and stops with the error message "adjustment failed or did not start". I replaced the motor, still won't adjust. I took the motor off, left it plugged in and the motor does move during adjustment. The door is moving freely with the motor removed. I talked to like 10 good techs today and they have never heard of this issue. Yaay me. Please help I live in Alabama and it's frikkin hot!

Is this the one that where the motor connects into, has a tendency to crack and the motor can't fully move the flap (the plastic that holds it is cracked.....i'm assuming the x70 system isn't all that different). Assuming it isn't different, you can do what i did and use a jumper wire to manually adjust the damper motors till they sound right if it'll help you diagnose at all...I used this method when my ECC died to get cold air, but, i'm not sure this will help if the flap won't move. If you have the s70 tech manuals it'll list all the pins for the ECC.

Check this out, it's for a different flap/motor i believe, but, this is what i'm implying could be the issue:

Again, i'm assuming the x70 system isn't all that different from the 850's. If the flaps look nothing alike then i guess just disregard this.

And, i know you said the A/C system is all good, but if you manually set the flap you should get cold air regardless of the motors function...something to test. Check back, someone with x70 experience will hopefully chime in on this one if i'm way off.

Thanks a million. I'll check that today. Climate unit is setup the same way as 850 ecc. Looks like drivers temp door is gonna be a lot of fun to access. Probably gonna pull dam dash. Thanks again.
