Where To Buy Wheel Spacers ?

Where's the best places to buy wheel spacers & longer lug's ? Have an S60 that's rubbing ideally I'd like to space it 3mm in the front & 5 in the back. Mainly for look's. But 5mm F&R would work too. Thanks in advance.

Whats the difference between the ebay cheap spacers, and h&r hub-centric spacers. Is one safer than the other?

spacer is a spacer. Difference is that non-hub centric can be a bit of a PITA getting the wheel on sometimes.

I used cut down pieces of IC tube to make mine hub centric

So there's virtually no other function to the hub-centric spacers than to simply hold it in place (centered to hub)?

Good to know, I'm looking for spacers too. I'll probably end up buying the cheap ebay ones then...

This might be a good question for the OP also, anyone know where to get cheap extended wheel lugs? I cant justify paying 60$ + shipping for 20 bolts...

Thanks!

spacer is a spacer.

I think for the first time in my life I will disagree with you Huessin.

The universal ones take a bit to get centered (at least the way mine were design there was a little slack around the lugs and it took some time to get it perfectly centered), and you will notice if it's bit out of balance on the highway. Barely, but you will.

And hubcentric tend to take the weight on the hub instead of all the weight just on the lugs. Meaning, on a hubcentric spacer a lot of the weight is on the hub and the lugs are just to hold the wheel on tight. On a non hubcentric spacers, the lugs are doing double duty.

It's more true with adapters rather than spacers, but it applies to both.

I just went to a performance wheel/tire shop and custom ordered them out of their catalog (length, thread pitch, head design - you can pretty much pick and choose what you want). Mine were just over $40 for stainless extended bolts. Took less than a week to come in too.

LOL at the -1's

I would say it's ONLY true of hub adaptors. If you are using wheels that are HUB centric, the universal spacer is doing nothing but changing the offset. The weight load does not change as you describe. If you search for universals like mine that have the 70mm bore, it's not difficult to center them as the wheel is installed.

I would agree that using universal spacers of over 1/4" is not worth the hassle & potential rotational imbalance if you don't get them centered as I have, but for 3mm-6mm, it's significantly cheaper to buy universal. For the extra minute it takes to check the centering as the wheel is installed, I have no problem with it, and I definitely have no balance issues - my car is a very smooth ride :D

I guess if you just want a spacer for caliper clearance or something it would be find.

I've just seen too many vdub guys destroy fenders by having their wheel fall off by failing lugs :P but that's a whole different level of stupidity.

I agree..spacers that are non hubcentric work fine. I have used them on many vehicles with no problems...

Failing VWs were probably due to using awesome chinese "tuner" lugs in an improper length based on spacer size.

Also to the OP. If you're doing it for looks, don't even bother with anything like 3-5mm, you won't notice it in the stance. If you are on stock wheels and tires with an S60 you can usually easily fit 10 front and 15 rear. Even 15-20 works.

Got mine through Motorsport Tech :) Great guys over there.

I second this.

Great price, top quality, and what seemed like mere days between placing the order and getting them to my door.
