Boost Addicted
Ok, running a 19T. Off my OBD2 software on laptop. Have brand new O2 sensors.First gear:At 11psi O2's at .98 and timing advance at 27deg. Turned WG 1 full turn.At 12psi 1.05 O2's and 23 deg timing advance.Second gear:Hit 15 psi O2's at 1.05 and timing advance at 12 deg.Planning on running 15 to 16 psi. What kind of O2 range do I want to be in for performance?.70 to .80?What kind of timing advance do I want to stay above?
freeskier8585
hmm you seem to be running a bit rich
Dane O'Shea
Yeah, you are running very rich. My car at WOT runs at .92-.93. I know of other T5's that run the same numbers. I'm guessing you have an upgraded ecu? If you want a good explanation go to Dawesdevices.com, they have a decent explanation of what O2 sensors should read. If you really want to tune accurately though, you will need a wideband O2 sensor.
EricF
Definitely don't be running that sort of power level at .70-.80... I would say stay in the mid-low .90s NB O2 sensors suck too, so take it all with a grain of salt.
Chopper
0.90-0.94 sounds about right to me. Your numbers are almost as bad as mine at WOT (with my upsolute superrich chip - no that's not a feature).
bitjockey
What OBD software are you running? I've been wanting to get some to monitor stuff like that on my laptop. Thanks
Chopper
I was using the Alex Pepper OBD-2 scantool. You can get it at www.obd-2.com.It works pretty well. Problem with OBD-2 in general is it dosn't have the bandwidth to send out more than two of three stats at once without having big lags between updates. Boost Addicted
No worries about running rich, after I dyno it I'm going to send it back to Bill for a touch up on the fuel. I'm got my logger at obd2.com. Anyone know how much spark advance I want to be staying above? Thanks to all who replied.
Chopper
I did research on the spark advance reading a while ago...generally there's not a lot of information about it. In the end the best I could come up with talking to some of the more knowledgeable 850 people was that the spark advance reading is effected by too many variables to have a known static range. Maybe you can find something I don't.I wish that our OBD-2 would let us moniter knock retard...I have a friend with a Grand Prix GTP (SC) and there is a model for the L67 engine that lets him moniter it...its' great for troubleshooting where power loose is coming from. He found that a dipstick tube that was hitting his strut bar under WOT was causing the engine to detect false knock, he dropped from 6 degrees to 3 degrees with that. Running 104 octane he was down to like 1 degree on a 50 degree night ;)
Boost Addicted
Well I ordered a led knock lite, hopefully it will work and I'll have a visual indicator of when it is knocking. Also, I'm watching timing advance and at lower boost it is high and stays constant, turn up the boost a little and it will drop when the turbo hits full spool, I'm assuming this is do to a little knock. One thing I am supprised about is how much lag the 19T seems to have. By 3000 RPM's I'm only making 5psi. The wast gate is a ways out, but as I turn it in boost goes up really fast. About .5psi for every 180deg turn. Running on the ecu only for boost. But it easily holds 15psi to readline were as my 15G dropped off to 10.
