bwhiles
Hi, I am a new Volvo owner - My first. The car I bought would not allow the key to be turned to the crank position - providing that the position is past the III and then returns to the II - but correct me if I am wrong here - Please Anyway, I removed the electrical part of the switch and have been using a screwdriver to turn the switch and just leave the key in the tumbler. My questions are; 1) Is the crank position actually III or is past the III? 2) If I have to buy a new switch assembly it will come with the housing and the switch but not the tumbler. How do I remove the key and lock assembly from the old switch? I also had to remove the gear selection cable and cleaned up the switch on the gear shift knob. That was easy. Any input or help would be appreciated. I do not know if I am on the right track. All my other cars are British and I spend a lot of time on my favorite forums for them helping out where I can. Since I am a new volvo owner you can understand why I am lost. Thanks in advance Bob
theForgottenone
1. To start the car, the key will have to turn past position III 2. Maybe you have the dealership program the ignition module for your existing keys?
