bum2kev Posted October 18, 2011 Report Share Posted October 18, 2011 imo it will last longer without the clear coat as long as you keep it waxed. once a clear coat starts to oxidize you are sol. if a single stage starts to oxidize you can still save it. Just cause your color code is 609 (Red), doesn't mean you do not have a clear coat. As you will see in the link, the two numbers after the 609 are critical (BTW: Varnish = Clear Coat). My 850R is 189-21 (Standox, Solvent based), so no clear coat.
