AdirondackVolvo
Yes all 00XC's have 4-speeds (I thought the NA cars had the 5-speeds, and all turbo cars had 4-speeds), I didn't realize about all the electrical involved... That worries me...

Ihatespeedbumps
No electrical worries for a trans swap. A matching AWD trans is plug and play affair.
Keaton85
The only differece that i have found between the FWD and AWD 4spd is the bell housing and diff. All the rest is the same....
gottarollwithit
OK, before we get too far along the "i need to replace a transmission path", is there anything else aside from a dying tranny that would cause slippage when cold, but proper function when warm? gottarollwithit
Sorry guys, gotta bump this old thread.... I'm again on the hunt for info on replacing this transmission in my Mom's 2000 v70xc So, T5Power says that i can't use an AWD trans from a 1999 or older car for my 2000. Is there a reason for this? I'm certainly not trying to doubt his integrity, but i'm trying to figure out what my options are here. Is the ONLY trans that'll work in a direct replacement fashion with this car an auto trans from a 2000 V70XC??? I thought the 1998-2000 P80 V70XC's were all the same, right? Or.... are they really, really different? Also, is rebuilding this transmission an option? My mechanic who's likely often on this board says that these trans are usually a replace, not rebuild kinda affair. I just want to get a second opinion on this.... Is there any other reason that this trans would be having a slipping problem? My Mom says that it's worse when in reverse and when cold. She says that when it is acting up, the engine will rev, instead of provide motion for the car. Sometimes it'll all of a sudden catch as it revs. Is there anything electrical that'd cause this? It has progressively gotten worse from once every few weeks to now every day. It had some funky behavior when it was like half a quart low on fluid, but i think that's irrelevant. Thoughts??? Thanks a bunch in advance guys!!

gottarollwithit
I'll make a new thread.... Basically what has happened is that my Mom's car has a transmission that is now slipping after a fluid change. I'm looking for info and options.
