got a radiator from fcp about 2 years ago. less then 15k on it.

went to pull the drain plug out of it and it got tight and broke on me inside the radiator.

has anyone ever drilled and re-taped the plastic part of the radiator. i would hate to buy a new radiator

fuuuuuuuuuuuuukkkkkkkkk

I think your biggest worry is to get what ever went in the radiator out... but as far as redrilling or what not... You can get plastic threaded bolt & nut and plastic weld them in if it really came down to it but its quality depends on your skill. I plasti-welded my intercooler when I found a crack. The crack was like 5-6" long and I have yet to have a boost leak ever again knock on wood

P.S. its called a PETCOCK but dont pet your cock just sayin

never heard of plaic welding but that sounds good.

i might have to call around to see if anyone does plati-weld. the kits are like 150. i dont want to spend that since new radiator is like 200.00

if you go to autozone there is plastic tank repair kits for like 11 dollars. I would assume this works but that it not what I used. I used some ABS resign shit with hardners. It was from a dude up the street that does custom fab work and he gave me the remains of a tube he had. I had about 3 minutes to get it all on there and then it was there for life. I got the shit on my finger tips and it didnt come over for 3 months. I cant remember the name but there are small packages available at autopart stores that claim to be for radiators and shit

I'd hate to mess with my pet cock then not be able to get it off for 3 months.

The FCP radiator isn't like the OEM radiator that has a traditional petcock. The plastic one only turns a little bit then pulls out instead of unscrewing like a normal thread. I almost broke mine too if the water pressure behind it hadn't popped it out once i had turned it enough to line up properly.

I broke mine too back then due to over-tighten the drain cock. I used a small flat head screw driver to unscrew it out. Here is some photos :

Mine has been busted for 2+ years rolleyes.gif

I forget how I pulled the broken piece out, but I used a coarse threaded 3/4 in bolt just a tad larger and pipe thread tape, I have removed and re-installed same bolt at least 6 times. never leaks,

be sure bolt is not too long as to avoid damage to core.

If you choose to remove the lower hose, if reusing be sure to align the clamp to the indentation in the radiator hose.
