Jack8745
Car has been down for a few days, upgrading to new oil pan, fixing some oil leaks, and adding an R manifold. any drawbacks on not putting on the heat shields back on? also does anyone have a picture of how the r manifold lower support connects to the r engine. I have seen what Hussein has done with the 240 auto bracket, but im curious how it originally looks like
JVC
I took it off, I also don't have the hood blanket. No problems with the paint or anything else.

JVC
And what happened to your IATs? when driving has not changed... when sitting still it heats up faster but there seems no change when moving. (using a ScanGaugeII to check temperatures).
crazykn
^^^The hood blanket serves as a safety function. The blanket is held up by plastic clips that are designed to melt under heat from a fire so the blanket falls down onto the engine bay hopefully smothering the fire. Kevin.
If you're running a stock turbo you will be fine
lookforjoe
Having had an engine bay fire, I would NEVER run without the heat shields - all you need is a little oil spray out the filler cap on to the turbine exhaust housing & you're done. At the very least install the vertical shield. The horizontal is easy enough to pop on & off for access.
