'02 V70 - Could Engine Coolant Temp Sensor Affect Ac?

My wife recently took her '02 V70 in for a recall replacement. At that time, local dealer said coolant temp sensor also was coming up as a code. They wanted about $150 to do it, I told her no way I could fix. Before I got the chance, AC started to blow warm in stop & go traffic. AC service tech put in freon, worked fine for a couple days, now doing it again. I have read the bread clip shim fix for the clutch. Before I go into the clutch issue, is there any way the temp sensor could be causing AC to blow warm as a way to prevent overheating that it only thinks is happening? I have never seen temp guage in car over midway, so I think the temp sensor thing may not be valid. I just doen't want to tear into too many things unnecessarily. Anyone got any thoughts?

Since the temp gauge isn't climbing, I doubt the A/C issue is related. A/C compressor clutch failure is extremely common, especially in hot weather with heat soak conditions like stop and go traffic. Start with that and see if it resolves your A/C issues.

ECT (engine coolant temp sensor) and thermostat replacement are pretty easy DIY jobs, and I'm sure you could find a write up with a search on this site ;)

No..... the A/c issue is unrelated(as stated already) ...fix the ECT and put a T-stat in it

Shim the A/C clutch next spring as you don't wanna kill the clutch this winter....

I'm having the same issues....code saying ECT needs attention, and A/C blowing cold then hot after about 15 minutes. The temperature just turned pretty hot here a week ago...so I'm checking the freon pressure, and getting ready to do the compressor shim job....then I'll replace the ECT and the thermastat and hopefully, be 'cool' for awhile.
