Che'_Moderator
Update: Success! All is well, took it for a few highway rips and seems to be holding together nicely. I will update tomorrow or monday with pictures and info, I really need some sleep though! lol. You rebuild the head or just puit it back together? As for witness marks I have seen lots of Volvos have marks where the valves kissed the pistons. This is on cars with no broken belts or off timing. The later model Volvos actually have pistons with valve reliefs cut. The Volvo spec is retardly tight on valve clearance.

Guest skibrian213
I know this might be a dead topic at this point, but my sister's '04 R just snapped its belt at around 88k miles. I think Volvo's service interval is somewhere around 105k to 120k? Is there any reason to even hope that Volvo would at least cover parts? The car has been babied. I'm unfortunately not there to look at it and so my dad has it in a shop that's much more trustworthy and skilled than the local stealership taking the heads off to get it done right. This thread has definitely been informative but I was just wondering if anyone with more experience with Volvos (I'm an ignorant Audi guy) knows how well they treat their customers? Not a snowballs chance in the hell they will cover it. It says in the service description it states the timing belt interval is 105k unless "operated in extreme conditions" You might have a chance if the car was purchased and serviced immaculately at the same dealership, otherwise get ready. Sorry about your sisters misfortune.
Guest skibrian213
Okay, I figured as much. Was hoping that I was wrong, but thanks for the honesty.
