Volvo Vida Dice Overseas Purchase

It can read the codes, clear them, change some parameters, do some resets related to transmission, do transmission adaptation, etc.

Without hook up to Volvo website it does not do much, unfortunately.

That's how I see it now. Things might change in the future.

Thanks.

Okey. I will be satiesfied if it only can read and clear all error codes and reset service message. But that will then not be any problems?

Thanks for answering.

I'm trying to register on Alibaba but the verification code will never show up. Tried several computers, cell phones etc.

Do you guys have a link to this product that's not on Alibaba but a "serious" seller?

Can't load software??? Since when?

I think what you mean is you can't purchase software without subscription.

If you drop a software file in the temp bin folder you can select it and load it  Mainly just modules on the highspeed network but it can still be done if you are a little sneaky.

Check out these guys (http://www.volvopartswebstore.com/). They claim to have various software upgrades, etc. for sale. Do a search using "All" as category and something like "upgrades", "auto-dim", "RTI" etc. as a keyword. According to their site a TCM upgrade for my '02 XC would be about $23.

I've written them and have asked if the software is available via on-line ordering, how it is delivered (i.e. media, download) and if they provide a mechanism for updating or instructions. I stayed clear of mentioning that I had a cloned DICE as these guys are a Volvo dealer and I would suspect that I would get some kind of negative answer as a result.

Cheers,

Bill

No dice (so to speak) per the message returned to me from these guys. Software is available only at the dealer and for use by their techs. Oh well, but they have to be ou there somewhere.

Cheers,

Bill

here's a question. if you buy a subscription from volvotech.info for 3 days, will you be able to download software from them (even for $$$) with this Made-in-China DICE tool?

after you pay $115 for a 3 day subscription and assuming that it works with the dice tool from china you can do software uploads (probably need to pay $$ for each of them).

I wonder who would want to be the first to try it. Maybe someone from the shop with VIDA hooked up could tell us how much these software uploads usually cost.

Yeah, you have to wonder if going legit to get the software patches with a hacked copy of VIDA and a cloned DiCE is going to work. Jeez, if this was music, games or app software it would be out there somewhere to be had for free. Oh well.

Bill

actually they send you DVD with the latest software 2011C as of today.

So two questions remain:

a) will it worked with made in china unit

B) how much each SW download costs

On Swedespeed, Inteller has answered the question about the clone units downloading software with a Volvo subscription. Answer is YES. Apparently Volvo doesn't check the serial number of the DiCE unit (all clones seem to have same serial number)

You subscribe, order software, pay for it, and download it. Maybe not exactly in that sequence, but you do all those functions.

I've bought a few of these DiCE units, and talked to my supplier about getting them at an even cheaper price. My supplier said I could get a $20 price reduction on some made by another supplier, but they were VERY wary about the quality of these other units. Imagine, Chinese clone sellers worried about the quality of some of these units!

All the ones I've gotten worked, and I've checked them all on a Volvo DiCE test unit. Seen too many complaints about bad units and conclude there are some very poor quality units on the market. However, biggest problem I've seen with units is getting the buyer to have the correct operating system, with the wrong one, you will NOT ever get VIDA working. Ask me how I know.

Clone units come with "cracked" version of VIDA 2010D or 2011A, typically, and with these, you don't have to sign on to Volvo's web site to make it work. When you subscribe, you get the latest version of VIDA (probably 2011C) but when installed, it ONLY works by connecting to Volvo's web site for you to sign on and be authorized to run. After your subscription expires, you either pay for another one, or uninstall that version of VIDA, and go back to the cracked version you had previously, because otherwise, you won't get VIDA running without the password from Volvo. (or, run the subscription version in a virtual XP machine, and when it expires, run cracked version of VIDA on your main system, and nuke the virtual machine)
