My Dad is a Chrysler retiree, and for the most part that's all I've ever bought. I've always wanted a large/large displacement American car, and this was too good to pass up. Possibly 20's, but 18's realistically. Our roads suck and we travel up north a ton in the summer. Their transmissions do blow, but this one is a Mercedes 5-speed unit....the only reason I got this one over the V6 touring 300 with the 42re 4 speed. the Hemi itself is mostly bulletproof. A guy that lives up the street was an engineer at the DCX proving grounds and saw many go to 200k with planned abuse and zero maintenance. A true car guy, the type that will talk for hours. A 1000 mile round trip up north last week sealed the deal on this one. 80mph in a 4-door Wrangler with a soft top all that way told me we needed something different for longer trips..Our Grand Cherokee was awesome for trips north, but too much shit has gone wrong with it in the past few months to justify keeping it and I didn't want to keep it as a strictly off-road rig, so off it went. Ghost Shadow Posted August 11, 2011 Report Share Posted August 11, 2011 matty.....had to -1 on this I see this car 300c/charger/magnum ALL THE FUCKING time at my shop. this is the inner city bently. these cars have all sorts of suspension problems, you will eat ignition coils for lunch, abs/esp problems, radios suck. Parts are getting scarce for some things because fiat is not making them and/or the old vendor is not making it for fiat. example is the navigation bezel that is no longer produced for dodge/fiat. All the cars i see have around 80-120k and they are ready for the scrap pile. god forbid you need a new remote keyless entry key. $180 from the dealer only. yes they take a dump ALL THE TIME. i absolutely hate the navigation, cant enter anything in while moving and not touch screen. the rear seat armrest dvd/screen is so stupid and the dvd stops playing. oh yeah the button should fall off the nav screen by 80k if it has not been replaced like 3x's before. becarefull with the cd changer, you thought your e-penis was sensitive...this is even more sensitive. dont put thick burnt cd's in, it will jam. I think the 300 has always been the official car of Detroit since the 300m came out. I look at it this way, no matter what you buy it's going to have it's own set of issues.
