Volvoman37
hokay. im about ready to dump some money into the audio part of this car. i already installed my HU, and i know most of you will say it sucks, but it works perfect for me. i already have two 10" subs that are gonna go in the back (wagon) in a sealed box, powered by a kenwood excelon ampmy question is, whats a good combo to replace the stock speakers with to get decent sound? tweeters in the dash, 3-way 5 1/4" in the front doors, rear doors, and in the way back? or should i delete some of the speakers?i do have a semi-low budget, but all suggestions are welcomethanks,Brendan
prasamin
you can scratch the tailgate speakers if you get some good components up front...
Veneficus
Pras is right. Get rid of all of your back speakers unless you have people consistantly riding in the back of your vehicle. Get a nice set of comps for the front and put the tweeters in the front of the door area... theres a little black triangle... Will recently did a mod for this. The imaging from this position w/ tweeters should be much better than from the top of the dash with no angle whatsever... Volvo never did make good audio parts. theunderlord
It should be mentioned that Volvo speakers are a cut above most OEM speakers in other Makes of cars.. but still no match for aftermarket.

Volvoman37
what about the ohms? isnt the stock setup abnormal in terms of ohm ratings? most car speakers are 4ohms iirc, and the volvo stock setup has 2 ohm speakers.would there be any compatibility issues if i just used regular 4 ohm speakers?i dont wanna eliminate the back speakers, i'd like to have some sound back there, as i do have passengers semi-oftensoo.... tweeters up front, replace front door speakers, subs in the back. would i eliminate the rear doors? or the speakers in the way back? or nothing at all? and how would the ohm ratings come into play?thanks
Volvoman37
ok, wow, i wasnt expecting the component setups to be as expensive as they are. looks like i'll be steering clear of that route for now, i cant be spending over $300 on speakers alone.so lets stick with 3-ways and such for now
orange850t
I would troll EBAY. I got my MB Quart 5.25" components for $47. Two model years off but who gives a rats high kneeEDIT for smart filter
Volvoman37
i was thinking... i could splurge and get a nice component setup for the front doors, remove the dash speakers, remove the rear door speakers, and leave the stock trunk speakers, since they arent as important. with the subs installed in the back, opinions? spottieottie
How much are those? The price was crossed out. I realize that you are on a budget so I would stay away from stores. Check these out, probably around what CC will charge you for the infinitys. If I were you I would get theseI listened to the 6.5 versions the other day at a car audio shop, they are nice. As always you want to make sure you listen to the speakers in person, make sure they are what you want and they sound good. Gmishenko sp? (GreggM) has them installed and is happy with them.
