tca217
Hello, I have an 94 855 Sportwagon and it is about time for new pads. I have slotted and drilled rotors with stock calipers. Looking for info for the best pads to buy that don't squeal and don't get the wheels covered with brake dust. The ones I have now are great for no noise and no dust but I can't remember what brand they are since it has been over 2 years since I installed them. Let me know what you got and how you like them. Thanks ..................TIM
Che'_Moderator
For OEM calipers I always used C-Tech mintex. Its an auto x compound, so a little cooler continuum than racing pads, but they will make a little noise when cold unless you use grease. You should be using grease anyways. As far as dustless, remember any pad that is truly dustless is costing you performance or is eating your rotor. No such thing as a dustless performance pad. Dan A
For a daily driver Akebono ceramics are good. FCP carries them.
Gilhuly
I put Akebono pads on last time and have been pleased. No noise and way cleaner than blue box pads. At work I like to go with Akebonos and Zimmerman coated rotors when I can.

nocturnal7x
I am in love with the akebobo pads I installed 2 weeks ago. I have driven the car same amount as ever, and one week after cleaning wheels still look like I just cleaned them. With the OEM pads, they would be gray after one week of driving. Smithwicks
Had Akebono pads on my old S70, lasted 30k/3years. Sold the car with them still on.
tca217
Here is a list of everything different about the Sportswagon version of the 855: (1) It has a little plastic badge on it Not according to the Volvo dealer, they say that the suspension is more "sporty", whatever that means. Anyhow I haven't seen more than 2 other 855 with the "Sportwagon" badge on it so that makes me happy. Well it seems like the Akebono pads are what the majority of you use so I guess that is what I will go with. Thanks for all the input, really appreciate it. ................TIM
jablackburn
I like to go with Akebonos and Zimmerman coated rotors when I can. Another vote for these. Just because you didn't have enough already! OEM rotors suck and warp easily - and my Zimmerman's still stop smoothly 25000 miles later. Plus I mean, the drilled rotors just look awesome
tca217
I agree about stock rotors, that is why I replaced mine with drilled and slotted rotors. Forgot the brand but with over 20,000 miles on them they still work great ! ...............TIM
