Mysterious Vibration

i'm totally lost what else to troubleshoot on my s60 t5 2001.

the car shakes (not terribly) at higher speeds (50 up). no matter if accelerating or coasting.

had all tires balanced at volvo. twice. second time i asked them to check very carefully if anything might be wrong with the rims and rubber. still shakes.

put the winter tires and rims on, balanced them at another shop - car still shakes, maybe not that bad. (16' winter tires, 17' summer ones).

overall i got 3 mechanics drive the car, all felt shaking, seems like coming from the rear.

volvo scratched their heads (bunch of 3 guys looking under the car) - concluded i need to try to change some bushes on the back axle. maybe this will solve the problem. maybe, they are not sure.

today went at another shops, guys seemed competent, inspected the bushes and said there is no way bushes are to blame. bushes are ok. tires seem ok (they felt them carefully by hand), also almost new. they say wheels/tires might still be to blame.

not sure if there is a connection: had serious vibration from the read while braking. really bad. changed rotors and pad - braking was perfectly smooth. after 2000 miles, shaking while braking reappeared slowly.

lost and don't want this car to shake all the way to the junkyard. car is very well maintained, with lots of new parts, had an easy life and runs very well despite 130.000 miles on clock.

any ideas? would very much appreciate.

Has anyone inspected the CV joints for excessive play? Have the axles ever been replaced? This seems the most likely cause of a vibration.

Vibration from braking is probably unrelated, and if the vibration from the rear has returned I would be the new rotors are warped. The is very common when using cheap braking components. Do you recall what brand you used?

many thanks for the quick reply. the mechanics i saw today suspected the drive-shaft. but they said the car should not vibrate anymore if the engine is disengaged (clutch pressed down). still shakes. so they say it's something else. they inspected the car under for like 15 min.

the rotors and pads were volvo originals.
