volvoluvin
Hey all, Last night my clutch went, not 100% sure what grenaded in the clutch, but regardless, it's toast. What aftermarket options do I have? Or should I just stick with another R clutch from Europe? Appreciate any thoughts Car is a 95 t5-r with 250whp atm. JDMS60R
Really, are you sure its the clutch, I have the same clutch with 30k on it and 287 whp. Just busted the ring gear at the drag races last week, but the clutch held up fine. I thought they are good to 400ish. Either way that sucks. I trust the shop I took it to, and they tell me it's the clutch? It's possible it had a bad spring? Any number of things I guess...I doubt it had anything to do with the power I make, or lack as it is. But I'm hesitant to put the spec -r in again. That, and I can't find any available in NA, only out of Sweden! So an aftermarket seems reasonable.
AverageVolvo
how many miles were on it? do you track or drag the car?
volvoluvin
how many miles were on it? do you track or drag the car? Can't be more than 40000km, and no. I was having a weird tramping issue when letting off the accelerator. I'm thinking it was a precursor to what happened last night?! Who knows at this stage, I need to see the clutch and get more details.
JDMS60R
Usually the tell tell sign is slippage in 3rd or 4th when you go w.o.t. , was it slipping noticeably? Also you have a S60R clutch in there correct.

Abundant Meat
What is tramping? Is that when you are sitting at a light with the clutch pushed in, then when you start to let the clutch out to accelerate it makes a quick groaning noise? Curious because that is what mine does every time coming out of first.

Geevs
850R clutch is the one you want.I was thinking the same thing but wasn't sure if the T5-R and the 850R clutch kits are the same. The 850R clutch kit part number is 272218. What is the p/n of your clutch? Hit up rj240 he may be able to source you an 850R clutch kit for a good price from Montreal. I just had my R clutch installed over a month ago at a RMD performance shop for $400.
