Factory 6-pin Connector To Rca Question

Quick question:

I've found the tutorial on making the factory 6 pin amp connector into a rca out. Great write-up, btw. The one question that I have: Is it possible to use pins 3 and 5 for rear rca's, hence having front and rear pre-amp outputs? I found another link to a pin out and it shows pins 3 and 5 as rear right and rear left, respectively. Based on this, couldn't one just solder 2 more ground leads to pin 4 and solder wires to pins 3 and 5, thereby having 4 channels of preamp outputs?

Thanks in advance,

-Ben

are these input or output?

You've got three ways to go here - What do you want to do?

#1 - http://www.ebay.com/...=item4cf507a9cd

"AFTERMARKET STEREO TO VOLVO AMP WIRING HARNESS CABLE"

Is what it reads on that eBay item. That says Input to me.

The reverse ( Output ) is also available:

#2 - http://cgi.ebay.com/...=item2eb3b30fcc

"Volvo Stereo Radio-Factory HU to Aftermarket Amp Cable"

As well as the ever popular "Add an Amp" Cable (Great for subs) :

#3 - http://cgi.ebay.com/...=item2eab948b5e

"Volvo Stereo Radio-Add an Aftermarket Amp Cable"

Spin up the PayPal and make your move! ;)

97 850R;

Attention audio guru's; I already have #3, which I used for my basslink. But the basslink amp fried, and was beyond repair. I bought a Pioneer D class mono blck amp and took the basslink apart for the 10" driver, which is in a new box now, ready to go. SO...then my sc-816 died, so I bought a Pioneer 2300DVD touchpanel HU. But, it only has front and rear RCA outs  ; the rear are switchable to use for sub. No good.

My question is, how am I going to wire all this up so I can use my new HU, sub/amp combo, all the speakers in stock locations (now all upgraded) and maybe even keep the stock volvo amp (850R)? Possible?

PS; I also have cable #1 on hand, if that helps.

Nice deck. Looks like the AVH-P2300DVD has an onboard 4 x 50 amp.

Write off the 6 pin DIN altogether and go direct - Get a wiring adapter,

bypass the stock amp and set that rear RCA output for SUB. Cake!

Thanks for the reply. What you suggest is what I'd go with as well, but won't I lose my rear door speakers, as well as cargo area tweeters by setting the rear channel of the 2300 to sub? The rear RCA channel would go right to the mono block amp, no?

Took a closer look at the book. That could be a problem. On most decks, the 4 x 50

outs shouldn't care what you do with the rear RCA outs. This one is different.

Looks like they only run 4 preamp channels and not a seperate set for subs.

Great for 2 and a sub, but it sucks for a 4 full range plus a bass amp system.

That's probably an upsell feature on a more expensive model. Bummer...

I would expect the sub out to be "independent" of the amplified rear channels.

But this rig looks to be designed to run a sub right off of the amplified rear

channels with a chest thumping 70 watts. I'm not sure what the point is to that...

Before you start tearing up the car, you might wanna play around with it a little.

Put yourself at ease and set it all up on the bench first. But I think you're screwed.

At this point, you'll be left with a crappy option. If you want all 4 corners, disable SUB.

Looks like you'll have to run full range RCA to the monoblock to get all the other speakers.

A major PITA is that you'll miss out on all the cool sub features in the HU. That sucks!

AND the fader will adjust the rears and the sub at the same levels. That sucks, too...

Hope that amp has it's own lowpass filter and slope controls. Still sucks.

Got a pickup with 2 and a sub? It'd be perfect. Just not for your 4 corners with a sub.

Worst case? Get a big power supply and you'll have nice a shop stereo!

Or ditch it and upgrade to something that'll truly do the job. Sorry, man.

That's what I needed to know.

The HU is brand new, in the box, not even registered yet. I'll sell it locally and get one with dedicated sub output.

Thanks for your help, i appreciate it. :pizza:

I have a AVH p2300 and it has sub outputs. Im actually looking at the basslink and Crutchfield guys said I could just use those outputs and splice into the remote turn on (blue wire out of hu)

Much to my disappointment, the AVH-2300DVD has a SWITCHABLE sub output (rear channel). I need a DEDICATED sub output that doesn't make me choose between rear channel OR subwoofer. I need 6 channel for all my speakers to function, the 2300 offers only 4 channels.

:(
