theunderlord
Ok, we all know (I hope) that deleting the rear deck speakers (on the 854 and S70) is a wise choice for good fidelity. Especially for those of us with sub(s)however, has anyone actually REMOVED the speakers, leaving the deck lid open? Would this result in more bass (in sheer volume) inside the car?Would this result in possble less vibraton/rattles from trunk? - opinions/thoughts/general discussion apprreciated. PyROZen
I thought about taking the speakers out of their housing and leaving it open, but havn't gotten around to it yet. I'm sure it's about the same as when you open the trunk pass-trough, bass gets louder and sounds clearer.
Veneficus
Yeah, Kevin, I did this. All it takes is about 30 mins and a torx screw driver. I usually drive with the center pass open also and it does amplify the bass w/n the cabin more. IMO it was much worth the time to take the speaker out of the box itself in the rear deck. Also then you have one less thing that will rattle. :D

mAydAy
I know how the rear deck speakers get the feedback from the subs and everything. Anyone considered making boxes to isolate the rear deck speakers?

Anyone considered making boxes to isolate the rear deck speakers?←I mean it's doable.. I don't think anyone has done it yet.. the thing is, with a sub, the rear deck speakers are pretty pointless.. you get all the sound you need from the front speakers, and the rear's are just for fill. PyROZen
I just took my rear deck speakers out and there is defitily an improvment in sound stage and bass quality. The left rear speaker was all fudged up too. The woofer magnet was so strong it ripped the magnet off the back of the tweeter, and i found it laying in the middle of the speaker now i know what the buzzing sound was everytime the bass hit. Veneficus
Screw your rear deck speakers they do nothing for you. If you're so distrubed that you have no speakers on the rear put em in the doors. Thanks.
