Bye Bye Old Crappy Leather Seats

The birch wood that they offered as the only option on the tan interior R-types has to be the biggest mistake ever made. They should have went with a darker wood it actually looks like an aftermarket kit. I know their was no other choice offered. Also the problem with two-toning that has not been done from factory is it wont go with the style of the rest of the interior as your seats will stick out against the rest of the contrast. If your happy with the finished product than that is all that matters.

Seriously, the stock tan color in the 850's with the light wood grain is so dull..I think the color will liven it up and modernize it somewhat..I'm having the small trim pieces on the doors done also so the color will be brought into the doors..If you look at alot of newer cars they have two colors, sometimes three so I don't know why you peeps are trippin so hard...and your right, as long as I'm happy with it........

$900 to re-do the bottoms of the seats?!?! why not just buy some good condition used ones and avoid the super weird partially two tone seats?

Why buy some old seats in "good" condition just to make my 850 look like every other 15 year old 850???

I will be redoing my seats in matching Grey ultra vinyl with charcoal suede on the inserts and half the bolster piece. I will be replacing the entire bottom cushions but keeping the back rest shells since the seats have air bags. Since the vinyl is a match it wont be noticable.

Those seats look great other than the oodd color combo, although most of that wont be seen in the car so don't worry too much.

Yeah, I wish I had a black 850r with black leather but I don't so I work with what I got.

I just don't understand the logic at work here. I would think if you were really concerned with "saving lots of money" you wouldn't have refinished the seats. I mean why spend $900 to have it look unfinished?

Couldn't you have redone the center in leather to match?

I think they look great other than that middle piece on the back.

It's just about replacing what was worn out...the sections that remain tan are NOT leather..I spent about as much as someone spends on wheels and tires and I got rid of my cracked leather seats.

Ummm, I like the birch

I appreciate all the criticism and haterism..I acknowledge the odd color combination but considering my headliner, dash, console, rear panel, carpet are all light tan I though I went with the best color for my vehicle..Thats why I'm happy with it.

The upholster dude told me I could always do it in the future.

Before you install them take them back and get that odd middle piece in the back matched to the dark sides. Other than that in your car with other bits you described, I think it will look swell. It would not be my color choice...I'd do Volcano RED! like they had in some of the later models with two tone (I recall a black C70 Vert in canada for sale) that is beautiful! I think the price was a bit high but that is irrelevant...

Picked up my seats tonight and installed them..Still waiting on clutch parts to begin the swap..Still need a engine support bar and tranny jack before I begin.

I'm not ding back flips over how it looks but overall I'm glad to have the fresh look and addition of some color to the interior...A guy who came into the dealership I used to work at had his S60 done with the Red Evolve interior, THAT I WOULD DO BACK FLIPS OVER!
