Boxman
Does anybody know what the difference in cylinder length between those two types of engines is? My conrods are too wide at the bottom, thus they hit the walls (apparently a common problem). The engines built after '99 don't have this problem. I need to know what the length difference of the cylinders is at the side of the crankshaft, compared to the >'99 engines. Does anybody know? ozzimark
That's an excellent question. I have always gone on the assumption that they are the same. The -98 engines use the same rods and pistons as the 99-01 engines, so I don't see why there would suddenly be a change to the cylinder length. 02+ is another story, but again, as far as I know, everything is interchangeable, so the cylinder length should be the same. I can measure the distance from the crank centerline to the bottom of the cylinder on my '02 block if you'd like a comparison point against your block.
