Volvot6
hi everyone. first i'd like to say thanks for reading this and having interests to help a brother out. this is my car 2001 volvo s80 t6 .... 2.8 twin turbo engine also used in XC70 the problem is the engine wont start. so far i have bought a new bosh battery for it .... the kind that volvo recomends. the long one it didnt fix the problem. so i checked the plugs and got all of em cleaned up... and checked for spark ((((they dont give a spark)))) so i called my friend from tacoma WA he used to be a volvo mechanic and he recomended i changed the cam sensor and cam shaft sensor. I replaced both of the sensors. And even that didnt fix it. i checked all the wiring in the engine and the fuses every fuse box in the car. the front and the rear module fuses. I replaced every relay in the engine bay. i tried everything i could have but the car doesnt start. the engine cranks the starter turns over. but no spark means it doesnt turn on. i tried using all 3 of my original volvo keys which were never kept together. all three have the same effect. now im stuck thinking what else could i do???? maybe antena ring? i dont know now.... i already blew 7000 dollars on a 10 year old car with 119k miles. so im really upset. so does anyone have any suggestions or experinced the same problem.????? thank you everyone for your time and effort, i appreciate it.im sorry forgot to mention, it does not show any engine codes. i ran the test on the speedometer. by pressing read and foglight button twice... it lights up and tests go by fine. i also connected a obd reader tool...and it didnt give any info out. also the srs light urgent is on from the battery being reconnected.... Zappo
Have you tried taking it to the dealer?
Anatoli
that twin turbo I6 was never used in V70XC or XC 2001-2007, IMO maybe it's time to call a mobile mechanic so that he can help you diagnose a no start condition. do not throw part at the car, as these are expensive if you do not know where to go. Ihatespeedbumps
You need to get the codes read from all the modules in the car, otherwise we are just guessing. This will require VIDA or another Volvo specific scan tool. If you plan on scrapping your car you MIGHT get $400 from a junkyard.
Anatoli
second that: instead of throwing random parts at the car, have it checked out thoroughly. BTW, recent "volvo service for life" program should give you a free diagnostics (up to 1 hr) if you have check engine light on. This is done at the participating dealer. Also you get free software updates with scheduled maintenance.
scandalo
The immobilizer may be the issue. A few google searches say try pulling fuse #32 labeled the Central Electrical Module. This should kill the network between all of the computers and let the car start. If this is they case then you need to go to the dealer or an indy shop that has the tech to diagnose what is wrong. TorontoR
i had an s80 1999 ....worst car ever. Your ETM is screwed up...and is screwing up the signal for everything else. There was an ETM recall on these cars....get it done if possilbe. I had the same problem...even after the ETM situation....at the end.....it would not start....i just gave up on it...sold it for parts to a dealer. Its not worth keeping....it will only cause you more grief later even if you do get it fixed. sorry man..not what you wanted to hear...but i'm speaking from experience...many other s80 owners will likely tell you the same........ Anatoli
http://www.volvocars.com/us/top/yourvolvo/volvoserviceforlife/pages/default.aspx I'm not sure if this applies to indy mechanics. most likely major volvo new car dealers only. FCP Euro
I've had a few S80's with no spark and it ended up being a faulty TCM which exhibited No communication with the TCM or ECM on the High speed network due to a faulty termination resistor internal the TCM. You wouldn't be able to see this without Vida or Vadis. Not saying this is definitely your problem but It could be.
Scania
I'm not familiar with S80's . . . . . .But the 850's have both a cam sensor & a crank sensor. I bought my 945T for 50 bux outta Port Orchard because it had a bad crank sensor. Had um go bad on one of my old 855R's & 855T. . . . . . . . . .? ?
