Because some of us like how OEM Volvo wheels look.

I respect anyone who has a nice looking set of wheels, regardless if they are OEM or aftermarket. I hate it when people say both "omgosh OEM wheels suck, you gotta use your imagination and think outside of the box bro!" AND "dude, aftermarket wheels suck, OEM PEGS are the bestest bro!".

OEM wheels are shit and they do suck hairy ballsack....just saying!!! Then again...I always say it

I was only putting the 18s on to see if i wanted a rim size that big. The tires on those rims are already pretty thin as it is. There are some aftermarket rims i like,

But i just love me some 17" pegs or 17" canistos

Those look like 225/45/18, and no, that's not what you call a low profile / thin tire.

In my scientific opinion, too big is when the tires go more than about a half an inch over factory diameter. Once you go much bigger (see Serge's thread about 215/50/17s), you will start to hit fender liner and rub a lot. Two examples:

  • My C70 had 225/45/17 tires from the factory - which is approximately 25" overall diameter. My 20's were 225/30/20 which made them 3/10s inch over factory at 25.3".
  • My 1996 855t came factory with 205/50/16s at 24.1" and I put 215/35/18 at 23.9" on to replace them, thereby keeping the same overall diameter.

Based on my rule then, then biggest you want to go is 215/35/19 (24.9") on this T5R which would have come with 205/45/17 Pirellis (24.3") or 20" on a C70.

....And There you have it! The "Mad Scientist" at work...Take this info to the bank bro..I've followed Jeremy's threads for Years....All Well thought out... and where I'm from, I am trying my best to bring the VIP culture to my area of NC. That Donk look is where car customizing took a Nose Dive.. and Believe when you read this, I am qualified to Diss it... I'll stay off my soap Box because some of my business comes from these fools...they love Candy Paint and I love to chop Broccoli..Go getcho stupid decals at sign-o-rama...I 8n't airbrushing that crap!. Basically, On this forum, yeah we're somewhat conservative on some things, but thats what Keeps Volvos classy when you can do PRACTICAL mods that don't Deface the Badge.. Like my man said, XC's already ride high so a 20+ would prolly work... But what kind of look are you going for is the question.. I am working on a 92 Lexus LS400 with 20x11's +10 rear, and 20x9 front, +11. I have Rolled and Pulled all 4's so when I do go with Air, I won't have to worry about shredding...they clear fine...with a body kit, I can achieve a lower look and not that dum mass Donk look.. and No I don't free advertise with some stupid cookie, or consumer processed junk food logo on the doors!! :D I like a customized unique concept in Anything... Jeremy fits that profile so LISTEN! You gone learn something today!!!..:D :D :D :D

....OH! I forgot to add this.... several years ago, and alot of guys on here have seen this car..I used to work in Raleigh NC, and a guy there who Owns a Bike shop had a RED V70 R that caught my eye one day and I tried my damndest catch up to him but he lost me thru a neighborhood...well I finally saw that car...and from what I think most guys on here said he had 19's or 20's...but it was low as H3ll and Hella stanced.. Looked amazing but it was a V70 R, RED! was stanced like my Sig pic my son drew.
