Both. Only reason iPd springs would ride worse than coilovers is if the struts/shocks are blown.

My thought was because the shocks they are put on are not intended to be used with lowering springs, and since the IPD ones lower it more than most others it might be more noticeable that the ride is harsh.

I won't tell people what suspension to put on their car, because it all depends on what you want, do you want adjustability/slamability, or is one set height good enough for you? What kinda driving, where, what size wheels/tires, are all questions that the buyer needs to ask themselves before taking the plunge in buying new suspension.

I have had these installed on my car for over a year now and all I can say is that I love my D2s. The only thing I have negative to say about them is that the endlinks are garbage. Other than that I have zero complaints. We'll see how well they take to slight modifications later this spring.

did your end links physically break? or whats the deal?

i personally have the full d2 setup with endlinks and all, nothing has gone bad on me :S i've added quiet a few km's on them too

i mean regardless of the fact i still have the lightweight TKI endlinks sitting in my room waiting for summer to come.

too bad we actually cant get any good proper winter testing done with it being +8 deg c, over where i'm at, it jsut feels like a windy summer day lmao not even a cm of snow

So, at some point in my research, I started coming across the D2 coil overs and noticed how much the share between other manufacturers or brands. Seems to me, these are (close your eyes and... look?) extremely similar to what is marketed as K-Sport... even the hardware and accessories are near identical to what K-Sport includes with their products.

Now, with that in mind, I would not consider these for my car based on my past experience with K-Sport. I have used K-Sport coil overs on two vehicles (I bought both sets at the same time). After installing the setup, the first set of pillow ball mounts/camber plates went bad after ~3 weeks of driving (~500 miles). With the second set on hand, I swapped the parts and contacted K-Sport a little while later (maybe two months, they advertised a one year warranty at time of purchase). By the time I was calling, the second set of mounts had already gone bad. By bad, I mean so much slop and play in the spherical bearings, the plates had roughly 1/4" of axial play. So, save their one month turn around time, I went through this same deal with the next set of mounts (on the fourth set at this point). Something that I though was pretty humorous was when I talked to one of their reps about my issues and he told me K-Sport had not had any issues with any other mounts they sold... but a friend purchased the same coil overs just before I did, and was on his second set, that was warrantied by them.

At this point, I sold the car for vairous reasons not related to the crappy k-sports. I also blew two rear dampers (one on each set) within 5,000 miles of install. I also remember them having a very annoying creak/crack as the front springs rotated on the perch(s'), while turning....

After this headache, I went to a different manufacturer, thinking "you get what you pay for". I purchased a new set of JIC FLTA-2s, and had no issues what so ever with ~20,000 miles on them, I sold that car.

So, any wary buyers, remember, you get what you pay for.

the k-sport thing has been found out time ago. but as everything else out there, some people get the good stuff and others end up with defects. i for 1 am a happy customer of d2 and have yet to see a problem arise fromt these coilovers

So is there actually some substantial proof besides my 'no eyes' test of which is which?

Are they identical components?

I understand your position, and in terms of after market companies and products, I realize there are a few duds and some body has to end up with the sub-par parts... however, with my experience I listed above, I can not by any means rationalize what I experienced.

As far as ride quality, It's my opinion and experience that there is no way a strut/drop spring assembly will ride softer than any coil over set up, at any settings.
