NEU
the fronts r 480 lb/in springs and rear is 250 lb/in ? I got 487lb/in and 252lb/in so close enough... :P
lookforjoe
Looks like they only sell in set of four. I may as well see what Ben's end up costing, he's revised the camber plate design. I'm going to start with 450lb rear's, so I doubt the TME's I have up front are going to work well with that
Zappo
Yeah, I don't think they will just sell the fronts. Does Ben's rear setup use standard coilover springs?
JVC
I bought mine from PhantasmUSA.com they were recommended to me by a guy who I talked to at D2 themselves.

I'm think 300-350lbs with the Nivos would work for me with the TMEs up front. BTW Don Kalmar suggests for a road car 350lb front and 280lb rears for coilovers, not sure if that's for sedan or wagons though... http://forums.t5d5.org/topic/17516-front-anti-roll-bar-or-lack-of/page__view__findpost__p__202599

I have 350 & 400lbs spring sets for the rear also.

lookforjoe
^ i'd like to see a thread on your setup I will do one when I actually install them. Going to be several threads, since there's suspension, engine work & BIG turbo going on this Spring!

NEU
I'm going stiffer to reduce squat (hopefully) I've already bought Ben's rear setup, so I don't want a complete D2 kit. I have 350 & 400lbs spring sets for the rear also. I'm sure you'll reduce a lot of that just by replacing the Nivos and soft TME rear springs, also front springs and struts could make it worse. Any shock that has adjustable compression will do a lot of help lessen the squat. Also the TME setup is not bad (could be stiffer) but I think it works a lot better with the Euro Nivos (they dampen better). When I drove Grants (Firepuma) VR at Carlisle 2 years ago I was really impressed with that setup vs my TMEs with US Nivos which is definitely softer... I'd love to do a D2 setup all around, I really don't need to lower the rear much more, but it would ride better with a stiffer spring and adjustable shock. My main concern is hauling heavy loads with them. Anyone have pix of their wagon with coilovers and the back full of firewood? Better have the lube ready. You should have seen what he was wanted $$$$ to be the test mule for the AWD setup!
mojojo
Huh? Did you mean the reverse of that? Ive driven in (and owned) a bunch of Volvos with various suspension setups - coilovers (diy / KW), struts (bilstein tc, hd / oem / koni yellow, fsd), and springs (iPd, B&G, H&R, Kilen, etc). The only spring/strut setup that rode worse than or equal to coilovers was bilstein HDs + any lowering spring. Sure did... to sum it up, my opinion would be as follows: Coil over hard(er) than strut/spring combo (soft-er)
mojojo
How would the D2's compare to, say, KW V2's? I'm a suspension noob....just curious..... In terms of performance, you would much rather have the D2 over the KW. Now, I'm not saying the D2 is better than the KW, but the most critical advantage would be the independently adjustable ride height (D2's have adjustable strut perch <- the part that mounts to spindle). The reason this is so nice is so you can adjust ride height independent of pre-load, and vice-versa. As far as adjust ability, I believe both have compression adjustment. mojojo
For the guys thinking of different springs, FWIW, this looks to be a pretty standard design for coil-over setup. I'm sure that if you wanted different springs you could contact a number of companies and have some different springs made. I've gone this route when changing setups on various motorcycles (road racing) setup for track use only. It's been a few years, but I don't recall the asking price to be unreasonable.
