850T5M Posted December 9, 2011 Report Share Posted December 9, 2011 Hey everyone, I'm writing this for a friend of mine who is working on a 2003 Volvo V40 turbo. Apparently the car has a seized turbo, as in the wheel is hard to turn by hand and has significant wobble in it. He'd like to know if there is any other turbo that will fit in the car, maybe from another model volvo. The v40 is pretty rare in Montreal, so scrap yards dont seem to have any lying around. He got an estimate to have the turbo rebuilt and got ridiculous prices between 800-1200$. Do any other model Volvo have the same turbo? Car is 2003 with about 130000km on it. 1.9L Turbo Why the turbo seized is a mystery to me...I believe the S40 fits on the V40, but is there any other model? theForgottenone Posted December 9, 2011 Report Share Posted December 9, 2011 not direct swap. you can find ebay for replacement turbo but i would go with 14T turbo from european market (T4 model). You can even purchase a hybrid as bigger compressor wheel put on the same old factory 12T or 14T turbo. hit up on 30forty50.com for more details. better yet, have herman cherry turbo rebuild that one with super60 wheel or something on that size :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
