You might need to talk to your eye doctor.

To find the marks on the crank it's easier if you remove the crank pulley, but if you can't then you'll looking for the notch on the oil pump to be between the two notches at the back of the crank gear.

disregard the info on the camshafts, but the picture for the crankshaft will give you a clear idea of what the timing marks should look like.

i have the balancer off. only mark i can actually see is the big pointer on the hub to the balancer. and i have it lined up with the mark on the oil pump.

ok i went off the big pointer on the crank pulley with no luck...

buddy of mine in Sweden sent me the stuff the dealer uses and the mark is being shown in the actual pulley itself, after checking mine last night i dont have a mark in mine. a how to i had said the mark is about the size of a needle. is this true?

Does anyone know if the exhaust cam is timed in its free state( no oil pressure) or its preloaded state (fully advanced) ? I've tried both tonight and it locks up at 1/4 turn at free state and I may be a smidge off (maybe a tooth) at advance state but it bearly kisses a piston but it turns over.

ok so i tried turning the cam to get it to its preloaded state (where the cam actually turns) and i can get about a 1/4 turn of the crank and it stops. i went off the back timing mark (driver side) where the marks are flat. and this allowed the motor to turn over by hand. hopefully later this week i'll have everything back together and it will run. since it seems no timing mark on this pile of junk is right

What are you doing here? are you installing a new belt or what? nothing sounds correct or it's the way you are stating it that's really not making sense.

my car threw the belt...

i replaced the head already with a head that didnt have any bent valves.

i have the crank pulley timing mark aligned with the mark on the oil pump that didnt get removed

i have the intake cam timing mark aligned with the mark in the cover

i have tried the exhaust cam timed with the VVT pulley at its free state and the mark aligned and the mark aligned with the slack out of the VVT pulley

both end with the same result. about a 1/4 turn of the crank and the motor stops.

ive tried it with the cuts on the driver side of the cams being flat ( per 850 directions i had) and the motor turns over fine but with it like that the exhaust cam timing mark is WAY off. but the intake is correct

Was the VVT hub/gear assy. removed from the exhaust camshaft at any time during the head removal or installation process? If so then the cams MUST be locked from the rear when the VVT hub is re-installed. That's the only way to get it installed properly.
