I'm looking for a bit of direction on doing some relatively light modding of my 850R. Not totally sure just how much I want to do, but I'm thinking of either doing simply intake/exhaust and a tune or if I can find a deal on a 16t/18t then I might go further. What kind of exhaust setup is recommended that minimizes drone and isn't totally obnoxious? Where is the best place to purchase? I'm hoping to purchase the parts then give give it to a local shop to toss it on and to do any fabrication work if neccessary. If I was to move from the stock turbo to a 16t or 18t, would whatever setup I get for the stock turbo bolt straight up to the new turbo? What is the best place to find a turbo? Jardim Posted December 16, 2011 Report Share Posted December 16, 2011 To the first part of your post: As for the exhaust, if you do a typical muffler/high flow cat setup you'll have a good sounding system that wont rattle your ears off at 2-3k rpms. Are IPD/Vivaperformance (~$1200) the only real options? Sounds like you have your goals. The 18T, a mild tune (TT/ARD/IPD), and a DP to a cat-back exhaust. You'll need to match up the flange for the turbo, and make sure a stage 0 is done before. Most of what you need is for sale used on the forums, you just have to wait for it to come to sale. You'll need someone who knows downpipes, and if you go 2.5'' after the cat it will cut down on drone if you can find a TME/EST.
