Brickbox8398
Just to confirm, got my vagcom cable today and my computer finally communicated with my car! SRS GONE! The error was a driver side seat belt tensioner OC or something...i never touched anything when this light came on a year ago so it really pisses me off that stupid stuff like this can cause such a headache
Fudge_Brownie
Be careful about some of those ebay auctions. Note that a lot of them ship from china (or somewhere outside the US) and have like 30 day shipping times. If you search for "north america" only (using the settings on the left column), you can find some seemingly identical models from sellers claiming to be based in the US and shipping from the US. Brings the ship time back to reality.
joerickson
Will this one work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/VAG-COM-USB-KKL-409-1-cable-AUDI-VW-OBD2-OBD-2-/320627593700?pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&vxp=mtr&hash=item4aa6e4d1e4 I'd like to get this problem fixed over the weekend if possible. Still unsure where to get the Vol-fcr program though. Maybe I'm just stupid and computer illiterate.
Keaton85
That will work, as it's a vag-com. As for VOl-FCR, ummm, you will have to learn about the usual spots to get software and it's not something we can link to. Hint: TPB
joerickson
OK, so i have the cable, just need to get the software figured out. I downloaded a DEMO version of vol-fcr, but the cable is at my parents house so I havent had a chance to try it yet. Was hoping to get a version that has worked for people in the past, but it turns out I'm not the smartest with computers. please delete- I really have no clue what TPB is

SlapShot
These are the settings that work for me using a USB VAG-COM 409.1 cable and the FTDI Virtual COM Port drivers (link). Of course YMMV.

Keaton85
nope, but you have a DTC box.Let me revise that, you have OBD-II ish. As the 94-95 volvo had OBD-I but it works with OBD-II. weird but it works.
