98' V70 Misfire ?

Hello,

I have a 98' v70 T5, it has 112000 miles on it and has been my daily driver for a few months now without any issues. About 2 weeks ago it started to have a bad misfire, i pulled the codes and it had a misfire in 3 of the cylinders. A few days later the misfire became horribly bad and i couldnt take it over 35. So i replaced the ignition coil (upgraded to the MSD coil), cap, rotor, spark plug leads/boots, and spark plugs (yes i gaped them properly). For a day it ran perfectly, then it started to misfire agian. Now it is misfire regularly, not as bad as before, but bad enough that i can only drive it gently (gets worse over 2k rpm), it isnt a steady misfire it happens when im at stop lights or driving regularly and then the engine will go for 20+ minutes without misfire, but in the end it comes back.

My next thoughts were crank position sensor and/or cam position sensor. Any ideas or anyone else have this problem?

Update. It started rainy today, and the misfires have gotten a lot worse. Now i can barely get it over 35. And the CEL starts to blink at me. I used Autolite plug leads and boots and heard that they suck and I should change those out. Honestly I am open to any suggestions.

My next steps are replacing the crank position sensor and cam sensor, and now the spark plug leads/boots. Any other help would be awesome.

On the crank and cam sensors, almost always a bad one does not cause misfires. They either work and the car runs, or they don't and it won't give any spark.

Wires and plugs like you said, make sure itis dry inside the cap as suggested, I got nothing else for you.

When I did the plugs I cleaned the inside well. Barely any oil in there. The new plug leads will be in tomorrow.

One thing I have noticed is that when it does start to misfire bad is that it will run really rich. I'm just assuming that is biproduct of the misdirected, but not sure. I also noticed it is not weather dependent...it will run great for a while then just go to ceao whenever it wants. So with that in mind I'm thinking its electrical and not a mechanical part, but a friend mentioned the fuel injectors may need to be cleaned and flowed.

I will check the cam seal.

Half expected that answer. I know the first set of plugs I put in wasnt the best but seriously what's so great about the Volvo plugs that they cost almost $10 each... I'm open to trying them but not unless I'm sure its worth the money to get those.

You have to start someplace and using lawn mower grade parts is not a wise idea.

Replace:

Plugs with Volvo

Wires with Bougicord or kingsborne

Cap/rotor Bosch ONLY

MSD back to stock (you get NO benefit from the MSD at the moment)

Check:

Oil behind the cap sensor

Oil behind the cap/rotor

cam sensor*

The new wires will hopefully be here tomorrow. Used Bosch cap/rotor. And I upgraded the ignition because the Volvo one was dead, and that's 180 new.....so ill more then likely be sticking with the MSD. Also tomorrow ill get into the engine and look for that leak. What sucks is my job doesn't allow much time to work on it :( lame....

I checked a couple of the lines and didn't find anything. When I have time tomorrow or sinday ill check the rest of the lines. Wouldnt a vacuum leak cause it to misdirected consistantly? So far there's.been no consistentcy.

Before I got on here I asked around on TurboBricks (i know a bunch of those guys so figured it was a good place to start). Anyway they all suggested the IPD performance wires.
