hgray14
One of my cars has been sitting for a while and now won't start. Previously it has sat a lot longer and had no problem firing up with a jump-start. I have checked and the coil is giving a spark. I also opened the air filter box and sprayed some flamable spray directly down the air intake tube and that almost worked - the car sounded one crank away from starting. How do I check if the engine is getting fuel? Any other suggestions? The gas has been in there for a while but that has never been a problem in the past. I even added about two gallons of gas to the almost empty tank. Thanks
Zappo
I would start with fuel. Turn the key on and then check the valve on the driver side of the fuel rail to see if there is fuel. It should spurt out under pressure. If not, there is your problem.
Keaton85
Spraying starter fluid into the MAF will likely toast it! just a warning... fuel spark compression timing good power Check them off one by one
TyConn
Out of curiousity, is this the 93 in your sig you are talking about? The last time I had a problem with this, it ended up being the fuel ECU (M4.1 has 2 ECU's) I would check that if you eliminate all else. Other likely culprits are: Fuel Pump Relay, and as Zappo said, check the pressure in your fuel rail.
bergmjs
Depending on how long it sat for the fuel could have gone bad. If you put new gas in you still need to get the new gas from the tank up to the engine to start it. And yes, starter fluid on the MAF could destroy the sensor. hgray14
If the sensors on the MAF are destroyed already, will it stop the car from starting all together or just make it run rough?
