Oreo931
I believe the rates were 350. But the ride on these are substantially better. I also had the Konis on the softest setting. I guess I'll have to ride in a car with TAs to believe it. Doesn't make sense that a non dampening adjustable coil over with a higher spring rate rides nicer than hacked up adjustable konis with a softer spring rate. Not calling you a liar, I I just want to see for myself. Ride quality is subjective anyway.
BtownVolvo
Koni DIY's with a linear spring is straight awful to ride on.
Oreo931
Hmmm...I wish someone locally had these for me to try out.
gilber33
Hmmm...I wish someone locally had these for me to try out. I wish you could. Because these compared to the Koni DIYs I had make the Konis straight awful. I love the ride on these.
pedro fandango
so what are the options for lowering the back even more? Are shorter versions available in this configuration. Or can we cut the springs down
fischmama
I want to say that you can cut at least half a coil (1/2 - 1" ?) and take out the adjustable seat in the rear (1/4" +) to drop it a bit. Or go with set up that I have from RSI. 5" adjustable perches from the 240 series and 5" x 8.5" springs (mine are 300#).

Or can we cut the springs down From what I gather, you can remove the adjustable plate all together and drop a little more. Cutting any spring (in general) is just not a good idea. You're better off finding a smaller spring.
fischmama
From what I gather, you can remove the adjustable plate all together and gain another couple inches. Cutting any spring (in general) is just not a good idea. You're better off finding a smaller spring. Its a dead coil from what it looks like, but you are still correct. I can't find my stock bottom spring mounts to see if they will fit. Gabe, Do you still have yours? Can you see if they would work.

I can take a couple coils off and toss them in and see what kind of drop/ride they give.
BtownVolvo
LOL I just realized I typed "couple inches" for removing the perch. Woops...edited.
gilber33
I basically was trying to state that you get what you pay for lol. Understandable. I hear you. I just wanted to make it clear that if you do decide to remove the helper springs on these, it will not give you a harsh ride...at least compared to the Koni DIYs which were extremely harsh. IMO, these are very smooth with the helper spring removed.
Oreo931
Anyone want to lend me their front TAs to try out? If they really do ride nicer I'll buy a set tomorrow :)
B Mac
Koni DIY's with a linear spring is straight awful to ride on. Probably, but has anyone shortened the strut at all to compensate for going so low with a spring? Idk if it is possible with konis bc of the adjustment screw but guys on TBricks are shortening (bilstien I assume) struts for 240s and it just makes sense in general. sacrifice
I don't think anyone has shortened the yellows to compensate for height and spring rate. But then the argument arrises that if you are going to be doing that much custom work you might as well just purchase a set of coilovers for $600. If you're removing helper springs and swapping in other springs, then we're back at the same place. Probably, but has anyone shortened the strut at all to compensate for going so low with a spring? I'd be interested in seeing something like FSD's shortened since they're valved. I'm pretty sure you can shorten Yellows since they're rebuildable. Makes sense to me.
