Timbo Slice
Apologies. They rub when I turn, full lock I guess you'd say? I've never experienced them rub when I hit a bump.
kalvin
Apologies. They rub when I turn, full lock I guess you'd say? I've never experienced them rub when I hit a bump. That can be solved with some spacers very simply. 235.35.19 fronts 265.30.19 rears Thank you.
Timbo Slice
Yeah it seems I need to research spacers and offset to get the issue resolved. It's pretty annoying everytime I try to pull into a space and have to back up and repark because I can't turn far enough..
Ghost Shadow
Apologies. They rub when I turn, full lock I guess you'd say? I've never experienced them rub when I hit a bump. pegs are 18 x 8? and tires are 235 40 18? oem tire size on this car is 225mm wide, you are going another 10mm wider to 235mm oem wheel is 42-44mm offset and pegs are 46mm off set. this equals to a wider wheel that is going inside the wheelwell towards the shock tube about 6mm. only 6mm is enough to start rubbing inside wheel well and the inside fender liner. You complain about the turning radius of this car? pssh...the c70 has a wheel base as short as a honda civic with a turning circle the size of a mac truck with two tandem trailers. LOL thats normal its not you or your wheels, so dont feel so special! :P
Timbo Slice
Haha I know I just feel like the rub is preventing me from getting a few more degrees of radius. So from your calculations, to fix my issues I will need about 15mm spacers to make up for the wider tire plus the offset correction? Or am I reading I only need 6mm to correct it? I'm probably going to end up spacing out the rear as well so it can sit more to flush, but that's completely cosmetic. What I'm trying to achieve is a wheel set up that sit similar to yours, Steve. Pretty close to flush but not impractical. I'll be picking up some D2's this summer so I want to get everything figured out now so when that time comes I just need to install the coilovers and go. Of course I can mess around a little bit with the camber adjustment with those but I want to make my current setup work well for right now. Eh fuck it, you haz PM. pcguru000
Apologies. They rub when I turn, full lock I guess you'd say? I've never experienced them rub when I hit a bump. Mine did this too- even on 17" pegs...- I found a 5mm spacer made all the difference... And holy shit Steve 30mm spacers in the front!? what do you have in the back? Also- I may need to talk to you about inspections down the road here :)
exexpat
I wonder if 2000 was the first year that Volvo put the dumb turning stops on to make these cars steer like boats. Either spacing or 2000-up steering stops will fix it, but of the two, I would prefer wheel spacing.
