kwells114
Alternator is loose. How do I get it out, bracket is in the way. Do I need to completely unbolt the AC compressor to remove the bracket? I've looked at other posts, all seem to get it out without taking bracket off. Thanks for help
Keaton85
You have to move the PS out of the way and take off the coolant hose. Then it just wiggles out... The PS pump is only held on with a couple bolts and kinda just folds out of the way...
kwells114
Thanks. PS pump went out first, then top coolant hose, as well as lower air intake hose from cooler (to get at lower AC bolts). It's either this bracket, or the radiator has to come out. No way to get it out unless I get the crow bar out, then I'm going to break something...
Keaton85
Did you loosen the bottom two AC compressor bolts? It should just slide right out!
kwells114
Alt is loose. Just can't get it out of engine compartment. Normally Volvo is a very easy car to work on, except this. All other cars it's a 15 min. job. Grrrrrrrrrr
Volvo5.0
It's kind of like a puzzle. If you get it turned just right it will magically come out. With that said, I've also "gently" used a pry bar on the engine to get that little extra room that's needed.
Ihatespeedbumps
No need to take the radiator out. It's a tight squeeze just try a few different angles, you'll get it.
Keaton85
Like I said did you loosen the AC compressor?
kwells114
Thanks all. Out to give it another try. I'll post results later.
kwells114
Ok, it's out. Forced it. Plastic radiator inlet flange a little scarred up, metal part of flange is good. Thanks for help / encouragement. Kev
