Camber Adjustable Top Mounts

Recommended Posts

Currently using KW v2 coilovers with standard top mounts and bearings at -1.2degrees on the front, this is perfect for my car on the road as there isn't any outer shoulder wear. At track days, due to the fairly high cornering speeds -1.2degrees isn't enough. I do not want to change the KWs in any way as IMO they are perfect for me and my car and I dont want camber bolts and have to faff with alignment changes before and after every track day.

What I would like is to be able to arrive at a track day, alter the camber via adjustable top mounts and at the end of the track day alter them back to road spec.

Jerd sell a top camber plate and a custom spring plate to suit any spring, but these are between 3400-4000sek without delivery and jerd are notoriously difficult to get hold of. What would be involved in modifying the BC/D2 adjustable top mounts to fit the top of a volvo/KW spring if indeed it can be done at all?

I would love some info on this as well, I would love to be able to adjust my KW's without messing with the camber bolts, definitely hope you can find a solution to this, GL

The D2 camber plates are sold seperately since I just saw them today. However, they will NOT work with KW or Volvo springs. They will only work with standard coilover springs.

Is there any possible way to modify it to fit (is it just the spring seat or is there a larger issue, maybe I'll try to sneak a peak at your's this weekend and see if I can figure a way to fab up a KW adapter . If I can I'm sure there are a few people who may be interested in them.

You can change springs on the KW to standard 2.5" and then it should work, assuming the strut shaft fits through the pillow ball mount. The KW stock spring is wide at the top and wouldn't allow much movement before contacting the strut tower. It would be the same for standard Volvo springs.

Hmm...Makes sense, standard coil over springs may be a very viable option in the future, but for now it's not in the cards for my car.

Small update, the BC factory has now been asked if this is something that they can do. Hoping for an answer shortly.

If they can't do it and I have to change the spring for a linear version, any idea what spring rate would be a comparable match to the KW progressive spring?

D2s are running 8.7 kg/mm springs up front, which is something like 595 lb springs. I don't imagine the KW would be that different.

And how are they mounted to the strut? I mean, the D2 strut isn't special or anything that these wouldn't work on the TA strut with 2.5" coil springs?

The camber plate is the upper spring seat and strut mount in one unit.

Only if the strut shaft was not the right diameter.

And it looks like the camber plate mounts similar to how a spring seat/strut mount would mount, and the nut on top holds it down, correct?
