Budget $4000 Upgrade

Recommended Posts

buy a good known low milage RN motor from a dismantler like lkq or keystone or any shop like that, you will spend 400-800 on a motor depending on milage, i got my 02 t5 motor with 120k for 500 bucks.

Dont open the motor, do the normal stage zero shit like the pcv system and drop the pan and clean the pick up tube and replace the orings, now pick up a decent 50 trim turbo for about 500 bucks, bolt it on with an adapter flange, have some oil and coolant lines made and drop it all in. Hit up lucky for an ard tune and call it good.

If your smart you could do that all for 2k, i know i could. of course i forgot the basic shit you also need like a fmic and an exhaust, thats all easy stuff tho.

An RN motor bone stock is good for some decent numbers, 350+whp which is more than enough to have some fun.

Everytime i see a thread like this it makes me want to pickup the first 850 i find with a blown motor and swap a bone stock rn motor into it with a 57trim and go dyno 350whp in a car that im into 3k :lol one of these days.

Yep', you right but I would love to swap the tranny as well!!! I found a real deal as low mileage 02 T5, the tranny is my first concern as nobody bet $ 0.1 on them no mater the mileage (JRL docet and others)

Like I said, RN motor and an M56!

Plenty of money left over for maintaince and other performance mods. Going too big on just one item will eat your budget for breakfast and not have any for lunch or dinner haha..

You make me ROL

budget is set just mentally, I haven't put yet a limit to the FUN. M56 is fun but not 4x4 and you know that well

Op, if your serious about m66 swap pm me, i have one i can part with for a good price but depending on where you live shipping might rape you. I didnt catch that this is a v70r, definetly need to adress the slushbox before making 300+whp.

M66 AWD is much better than M56 FWD, esp. when you start making power. Not having the torque steer it worth it all by itself.

hussein are you running AWD right now??

Ive been debating converting my v70 to AWD and M66 for a while but the horror stories of angle gears are setting me off..

AWD is not 4x4 by the way... and yes, I know M58s are something you have to go steal from canadia... they'd just be my personal preference for a AWD build since they're a direct swap and I always forget about the 6th gear anyway because that's where reverse goes god dangit.

No, it's not. They're very different. AWD doesn't have a transfer case, or a low range, and they don't behave the same at all.

Robbie knows that bro hes just making a point.... -_-
