Volvo5.0
What year? Shocked Volvo didn't take care of it. My XC90 technically didn't fit in the recall, but Volvo took care of it. It's a well known problem. It's kind of a PITA job. The lower part of the backseat and backrest on the right side need to be removed. The pump is on the passenger side #2. You have to remove the retainer #6 to remove the pump. The PITA part is that a hose and the fuel pump wiring go inside the tank to the drivers side. You have to remove the retainer on the drivers side then the level sensor #4. The trick is you have to tie something (i.e. piece of string) to the hose and wiring on the drivers side, so that when you remove the pump the string pulls through the tank and comes out the passenger side. Then when you install the new pump, you can tie the string to the hose and pull it back to the passenger side and attach it to the level sensor. If you remove the pump without attaching a pull string, you'll play hell getting the hose fed through the tank. Really is a PITA.....
Dan752
just make sure when you put the new pump back in the arrow on the pump is pointing straight up cause if it doesnt point straight up you can kink the lines and your fuel gauge wont read right.
