boxpin
Can I slap the head of a 96 850 (B5254T) onto a 95 850 (B5234T)? I need a head for another wagon I have. Found one at the wrecker but need to know if it will work.
B Mac
LPT cams come with it too? Turbo heads have sodium filled valves but I'm not sure about n/a and lpt stuff. Physically it bolts right up though.
boxpin
They are both turbo engines and I was not planning on taking the cams. I was going to use the 95 cams. Is that ok?
B Mac
Yeah you're good to go!
Volvo5.0
Heads and cams are the same. You can use the '95 cams, no problem.
Piston Slapper
LPT and HPT have the same cams up to 98 at least. Only the N/As don't have sodium valves and bigger cams.
Jardim
You said 96 LPT (B5254T).... Didnt those come in a year later?
Piston Slapper
97 model year for USA, earlier elsewhere I think... some of the MY97s were made in 96 thought.
Jardim
Oh yeah i forgot, My car says sweeden 93 all over it lol.
boxpin
Door tag said 7/96. Its a much cleaner head than another 95 in the yard and with less mileage. I think I will grab it. Thanks all. Here she is, $
Piston Slapper
Door tag is actual production date, not theoretical model year. But it had to have been a '97 model to have the LPT engine.
lookforjoe
^ Looks clean! Is that the parts car, or the one you need the head for?
URO_S60
Boxpin I love the black wagon, and know the silver one will be equally as nice once complete, awesome deal for $500! P.S. Was wondering how much a salvage yard head runs these days? I'm going to try to look for one when I get back to the states (which is why I haven't started asking/calling around yet) so I can send out of a 3 angle valve job and do some port/polish work on that extra head so I won't have weeks of down time and can just swap in the worked head in a weekend. If you don't mind sharing how much you found that head for it will give me an idea of a budget and also so I know I'm not getting ripped off if they ask a ridiculous price. T.Y.
