pedro fandango
i'm inevitably going to have to change the con-rods on my 1994 854 T-5, but the question is do i simply replace the 139's with aftermarket one's, or change to the 147mm later one's (again forged) while at it basically what are the advantages to the longer rods? I'm going for a 2002- crank while i'm at it if that makes any difference many thanks
Rsterns
I'm not completely positive, but it's my understanding that the longer rods are for the newer white blocks. Also a different piston to coinside. I'd do some really good homework before I started swapping stuff around. Remember these are interference motors and you don't want more interference than designed if you like keeping your valves intacked.

Just wondered what advantages there are to using the newer combination & if it was worth swopping from my older set-up to the new while changing the rods anyway

If your replaceing, H beams are the way to to remove any doubt of bending due to additonal mods.
