GP850T
Quick question concerning replacing my wastegate and BCS due to the following issues i have been currently running into, although not a big deal for a car that serves as a daily commuter at the present time it has always bothered me Basically the issue occurs when it is time to pass on highways, down shift to lower gear and punch the gas, results in the boost being pretty wonky at times the car will boost to 12-13psi then cut boost down to 5 psi then boost all the way back to 12-13 and then cut the boost again. Currently running stock tune with stock bcs and wastegate. Wastegate i would assume is getting old and because im up here in canada the little adjustment screw is rusted beyond any hope to even play with those settings and i guess the bcs is just unable to controll boost any longer. So my question is hopign that my assumption is right and im looking to replace the bcs and or the wastegate at the same time, what kind of replacement options are out there. Keep in mind im running a 16t presently and propbably looking to upgrade sometime this summer. Please advise Thank you
Zappo
Well, you can test to see if the wastegate is the problem, but I am going to guess the BCS is failed and that is your issue. You can remove the vacuum line to the acctuator and take it for a test drive. Just be careful because you now have no wastegate to open, so don't floor it. You can roll into the throttle and bring up the boost and see if it holds. BCS will fail in strange ways. Sometimes it will only allow the boost for the stock actuator spring on the turbo you have. Stock is around 3-4 psi. I had one that would only allow 10 psi (18 psi tune) until 4000 RPM, after that it was totally uncontrolled.

aggarcia
What about the AC Delco BCS? I bought one last year based on recommendations here on VS. Works great. A bolt-on with a GM to Bosch harness you make. My 850R seems to make boost faster, higher boost levels in the gears and no spiking issues. It was a fraction the price of a new BCS or IPD's HD TCV.
